The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Housing Authority will use its first round of Stimulus funding to weatherize the oldest Low-rental projects in its current assisted stock. The Mt Project 12-05, located in Lame Deer’s Westside area and Busby’s ‘Magic City’ area, will be the recipient of the first round of Stimulus funding received under President Barrack Obama’s Stimulus Bill.
This project was the first Low-rent project that was built in the early 1970’s for the Housing Authority. These units are in dire need of weatherization as the cost to heat these houses with Propane and Electricity continually increases year after year. The NCTHA Staff decided when this money became available, this would be the project that would receive the funding. These 41-houses will receive new Vinyl windows, new Exterior doors, security doors and new furnaces in the coming months.
The Housing Authority will be purchasing all the materials necessary to complete this project. The bid advertisement for the Labor-only work went out in June. The bids have been opened and a Contractor will be selected in the near future. All of the materials for this project have been ordered and the work will begin in the first week of August, 2009.
Letters will be sent out to all of the Tenants in these units early next week from the Occupancy Department notifying them of the proposed work. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact Palmeda Fisher or Roger Killsnight Sr at 477-6419.
