5th Annual Chiefs Powwow Softball Tournament Results

The Fifth annual Chief’s Pow-wow Softball Tournament was held on July 4th at Hesteneo’o Park (the People’s Park). Men’s teams from in and around the local area competed in this tournament.

In the Men’s division, the Tongue River Men’s team battled the Gators from Billings in the Championship game. The Tongue River team hadn’t lost in the tournament so they waited for an opponent in the Championship game. The Gators had to come through the back door to meet up with Tongue River in the Championship round. Tongue River played the Gators team in the Championship game and defeated the Gators’ to claim the Championship in the Men’s division for 2010. The Red Men team placed 3rd and the local Lame Deer Boy’s team took 4th wrapping up the tournament.

Tournament Director, Joe Fox Jr had this to say; ”I am glad to be a part of the festivities this year. Last year we had a great turnout for the Men’s and Co-ed Divisions. We didn’t have many Co-ed teams sign up for this year’s tournament so we went with a Men’s tournament only. The tournament was a success and I look forward to next year’s event being bigger and better. I want to thank the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Housing Authority for once again sponsoring this event along with Tyson Fox, Benji Headswift, Cleveland ‘Booger Red’ Bement and members of the Stingers baseball team for all their efforts in making this event a success. It was a great tournament and everyone who participated had fun. I look forward to seeing you all in 2011. HA-HO‟
