The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Housing Authority Summer Youth Workers took 2nd place in this year’s 4th of July Float Competition held at the Kenneth Beartusk Memorial Pow-Wow Grounds.
The Youth Summer Workers, led by Tyson Fox and Shontay Old Mouse, decided to sign up for the competition by decorating a flatbed trailer with lawnmowers, weed eaters and trash cans depicting the work that they do during the summer months for the NCTHA.
Their motto was “changing the reservation, one lawn at a time”. It was truly inspirational to the float judges as they decided that it was good enough for 2nd place out of the 25+ floats that entered the competition. The 2nd place award was good enough for a $100 cash prize that will be used for the annual NCTHA picnic for awards for the workers.
„Hats off‟ to Tyson, Shontay, Richard, Adrienne, Joseph, Kyla and the rest of the Summer Workers for their hard work on preparing the float for this year’s competition and a 2nd place finish.
